Radiologist Assistant (M.S.) (Spring 2008)

Effective Spring 2008

The Bloomsburg University Radiologist Assistant program is housed in the Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences within the College of Science and Technology. This two-year master’s degree program builds on the department's 25-year-old undergraduate medical imaging program that enrolls nearly 200 students.

The curriculum is designed for full-time students who will attend three semesters per year. A total of 45 credits is required for the degree. The curriculum is designed to accommodate students who are currently employed as Radiologic Technologists and time on campus (away from their current employment) has been minimized through the use of distance education and preceptorships.

Students will take the first year fall semester courses using web-based instruction, will be on campus for the spring and summer for classes, and will return to their current employment (or an alternate preceptorship site) for their second year of classes. During the preceptorship year the student will also take an applied research course.

This course culminates in a final project that is suitable for presentation and/or publication in a professional journal such as Scanner or Radiologic Technology. The curriculum is completed with a final on-line Radiologist Assistant Seminar class that is scheduled for the summer of the second year to help prepare the student for the certification exam.
