As per PRP3604: All students earning a first baccalaureate degree will take at least 30 of their last 45 credits at Bloomsburg University, no more credits are required than the 30 credits. All first baccalaureate students will take at least 50% of credits required for the Major from a PASSHE university. Bloomsburg University may require up to a maximum of 50% of the Major credits. Program exceptions to the policy are to be approved by the Office of the Chancellor.

The Sociology program requires students who are not entering the major as a new student or transferring from another institution to have a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average to enter into the major. Students who have lower than a 2.5 may petition to join the major and the sociology faculty will meet to discuss and to vote on the petition. A majority vote by the sociology faculty would be needed to approve the petition.
A student must receive a C or better in the following core courses:

SOC.470 Senior Seminar
SOC.471 Independent Study
No more than two of the five electives may be at the 200 level.
At least one of the five electives must be at the 400 level.
