General Education Requirements - The University requires a minimum of 40 hours of general education requirements, some of which are specifically required for this major. Core courses designated by the department as applicable to the general education requirements may be elected in partial fulfillment of that requirement. Total credits for Program Completion is 120 – 126 depending on Academic Content Area of Focus.

Requirements for the Major - A total of 67 semester hours is required for dual certification in elementary education and special education. This includes credit hours earned through the student teaching experience. Students must also choose an Academic Content Area in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies or Language and Fine Arts for 15 semester hours.
