15.101 Elementary Arabic I (3) - Introductory course in Modern Standard Arabic. Student will learn the Arabic alphabet and sounds, basic grammar, vocabulary, and reading of simple text and writing simple composition. The course will also introduce students to Arab cultures. This course satisfies one additional course requirement from the approved list of communication courses for general education requirements/This course counts as a Group A, Humanities and The Arts General Education Requirements. No previous knowledge of Arabic is required. Three hours lecture per week. Prerequisites: None.

15.102 Elementary Arabic II (3) - This is the second semester of a two-semester course designed to give students a strong foundation at the elementary level in reading, writing, speaking and listening to Modern Standard Arabic, with some exposure to the Egyptian dialect. This course satisfies one additional course requirement from the approved list of communication courses for general education requirements/This course counts as a Group A, Humanities and The Arts General Education Requirements. Three hours lecture per week. Prerequisites: 15.101.
