Minor in Deaf Education

Administered by Department of Exceptionality

Effective Spring 2016

This Minor provides students with core content related to the education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and youth. This minor does not provide students with certification in Deaf Education, but can serve as a mechanism for adding this certification with the completion of additional requirements.

Students must earn a grade of C or better in each class of this minor and must receive advisement from the Department of Exceptionality Programs in regard to course selections.

ASLTERP.155 American Sign Language I

ASLTERP.226 American Sign Language II

AUDSLP.200 Introduction to Audiology

DEAFHH.201 History, Education, and Guidance of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

DEAFHH.305 Introduction to Instructional Methods for the Deaf/HOH

*DEAFHH.325 Practicum for the Deaf

OR

*DEAFHH.461 Technology-based Observations/Interactions across the Country

*These two courses require field experience. Copies of up-to-date clearances, TB results, and liability insurance must be shown to the instructor the first day of class.
