Biology (B.A.)

Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences, College of Science and Technology

Effective Fall, 2017

As per PRP3604: All students earning a first baccalaureate degree will take at least 30 of their last 45 credits at Bloomsburg University, no more credits are required than the 30 credits. All first baccalaureate students will take at least 50% of credits required for the Major from a PASSHE university. Bloomsburg University may require up to a maximum of 50% of the Major credits. Program exceptions to the policy are to be approved by the Office of the Chancellor.

Biology majors should schedule BIOLOGY.290 Writing in Biology in their sophomore year. If BIOLOGY.290 cannot be scheduled, ENGLISH.201 English Composition II may be substituted. In addition to general education requirements, additional free elective hours are required to meet the university requirement of 120 hours for a baccalaureate degree.

Foreign language requirement. Choose any one of the following courses: CHINESE.102 Chinese 2, FRENCH.101 French 1, FRENCH.102 French 2, FRENCH.203 French 3, FRENCH.204 French 4, GERMAN.101 German 1, GERMAN.102 German 2, GERMAN.203 German 3, GERMAN.204 German 4, ITALIAN.102 Italian 2, LATIN.102 Latin 2, RUSSIAN.102 Russian 2, RUSSIAN.103 Russian 3, RUSSIAN.104 Russian 4, SPANISH.101 Spanish 1, SPANISH.102 Spanish 2, SPANISH.203 Spanish 3 or SPANISH.204 Spanish 4.

A maximum of 3 credit hours of BIOLOGY.490 may be applied as a biology elective credit toward the degree. A maximum of 6 credit hours from among BIOLOGY.390, BIOLOGY.391, BIOLOGY.490, BIOLOGY.493 and BIOLOGY.494 may be applied as biology elective credit toward the degree.
