Minor in Media Sales Interdisciplinary

The minor in Media Sales is designed to provide students from any major with a broad exposure to theory and practice in both professional sales and mass communications.  The minor is designed so students will have the critical knowledge necessary to apply professional sales, marketing, and communication theory successfully in media sales.  Media sales offers an array of opportunities for individuals in a variety of communication platforms including television, radio, web or mobile devices.

The following sequence of courses is recommended, and the courses are required:

Year 1:
ECONOMICS.121 Principles of Macroeconomics
ECONOMICS.122 Principles of Microeconomics

Year 2:
MEDIA.120 Emergent Media
MEDIA.230 Newswriting
MKTG.310 Principles of Marketing

Year 3:
MKTG.341 Principles of Selling
MKTG.370 Sales Management
MEDIA.271 Video Production

Year 4:
       MKTG.445 Advanced Professional Sales
       MEDIA.371 Broadcast Journalism
       MEDIA.380 Media Programming and Management      

Please note:  A minimum of 21 of the 33 credits must be taken at Bloomsburg University.  Transcript notation will read “Minor:  Media Sales”.
